Why I Write on the Side

When I was a kid, I wrote all the time. I had so many diaries, and I filled every single one of them. Big things, small things, things that made absolutely no sense. They all went in.

Writing felt like having a friend to talk to. A friend who never interrupted, never rolled their eyes, never said “that’s a weird thing to worry about.” I could tell those pages anything, and they just listened. No judgment. Just me and the next blank line.

Somewhere along the way, I stopped. Not on purpose; life just got full.

So why “On the Side”?

Honestly? Because that’s exactly what this is. A side thing. It’s not my job, it’s not a grand plan, and it doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s just a little corner, sitting next to everything else, where I get to write again.

Here’s what you’ll find: things I like, things I think, things I do, and (let’s be real) a lot of things I overthink.

A small promise to myself

I’m not making big promises. I just hope this blog helps me write more often, the way I used to, back when a blank page felt like a friend, not a deadline.

If you’re reading this, thank you for sitting with me on the side for a bit. Pull up a chair. I’ll keep writing.
